Pew! Pew! ‘This is Dell Streak in pursuit of apple, suspect is an iPad’

By: – Abhishek Roy

Supposedly Dell has planned on launching its Streak, a 5″ screen mounted to a chassis resembling the appearance of the Blackberry Storm.

Now I’m not suggesting much, but the least they could have done were to have mad it much more visually appealing. The back has a little gizmo attached to it that might just be the first good reason to prefer buying one to an iPad, if you guessed it right, yup a camera. It’s not just any camera, it’s a 5mpx camera with a dual LED flash. And since they figured it would be a good weapon against the iPad, they put a little Vga camera on the front too!! Now I don’t know what they want u to use that for, but many sources say it would come handy while video chatting. Smart!

Okay as you can see on the image to the left, is something that might be a very new concept to many apple users, COLOR. Okay mind you I am a very big Apple fan, but it’s just not cool to see products that are themed on what Mr. Jobs prefers to wear on company meetings and product launches. The Streak compensates for it’s rather bleah! Styling, with amazing graphics and color themes.

The Streak is rumored to be launched with a basic 2GB inbuilt memory space, but here’s where it gets back at the iPad, it has a MicroSD port, which means it has expandable memory and up to 32GB.

The Streak also provides Bluetooth connectivity, 3G, and Wifi capabilities. This means that now you may not only access the internet to download apps and movies and pictures etc. you have the freedom to transfer files to and fro other portable devices and computers. WOW! Burn iPad Burn!!!

Saving the best for last, it’s powered by (Hold on to your hats) – Android OS. *Faints and falls to the ground*. Okay seriously, not cool. I think they’re not in it for competition, they want to PWN apple real bad. Adding the Android OS, now means that you not only have apps that the iPad has access to, but almost any app that’s Android compatible. It also is a clear indication to the fact that it will be a much cheaper device than the iPad. For those who have great enthusiasm in knowing stats on the Streak, they’ve very conveniently been leaked to scare the opposition even further.

  • A sharp 5-inch capacitive multi-touch WVGA (800×480) display for a great full-screen experience watching video or browsing the web
  • Fast 1GHz Snapdragon ARM-based mobile processor from Qualcomm
  • 5 MP auto focus camera with dual LED flash that offers easy point & shoot capability and quick uploads to YouTube, Flickr, Facebook and more
  • VGA front-facing camera enables video chat functionality down the road
  • A user-removable (and replaceable) battery
  • A 3.5mm headphone jack means many of you can use the Dell Streak as the music source (and more) in your car
  • Integrated 3G + Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) + Bluetooth 2.1 (think headsets, external keyboards, stereo headsets, etc.)
  • UMTS / GPRS / EDGE class 12 GSM radio with link speeds of HSDPA 7.2 Mbps / HSUPA
  • A user-accessible Micro SD slot expandable up to 32GB. That means you can store lots of movies, music, photos or other kinds of files.

Now for all the Apple fans out there, who I assume have been frowning all this while and cursing Dell and me at the same time, here’s the light at the end of the tunnel for you. The iPad is bigger and has a bigger screen, err… and that’s about it. But on a serious thought, let’s look at the history of apple products that have been challenged over the years, starting from the Macs to the iPods. Apple isn’t about the features and fancy additions and apps. Apple products have always had a special charm about them, their reliability and the feel they give you is unmatched no matter what. No matter how many tricks the android can do its never going to be loved as much as your iPad or iPhone. Things you’re going to hear an Android user talking about is, RAM and transfer speed, and hard discs and this and that, while Apple users say stuff more like ‘Look at how the menus slide, woohoo’ making the Apple user seem like a much more fun person to hang around.

PS: The Streak can also make calls through as GSM sim card. BURN!

Note from the writer: –

LEAVE APPLE ALONE!!! Well since my YouTube acting skills aren’t that good, I thought I’d rather pen this down.

Multi tasking on the iPad, Windows 95 app

By: – Abhishek Roy

[Windows in iPad]

Moron tasking rather

You know like how we all envy that rich fat merchant who drives a Ferrari just because he can afford one? This news hits you like a mini barf compared to the Ferrari one, but barf is barf.

Some genius thought it would be a really good investment of time and if he’s beyond godlike, than money after an app that could emulate Windows 95 on an iPad. Aw… ain’t that sweet?

No, the whole aim of buying an iPad is that u don’t want to be a windows user. But this app makes sure that u not only are associated to windows but you’re a space age Amish too.

In fair judgment there are always 2 sides to the story, so what is your point? Why don’t u just search for an app that u can play minesweeper and hearts on? Or better yet an app that downloads viruses and makes your iPad crash.

But seriously, when win 95 was out, nobody knew of technologies like WiFi, so I doubt it gives you WiFi or Bluetooth and 3G and so on.

If you really do get aroused seeing iPad like devices with windows on it, get a MSI TABLET of some hazard. It comes loaded with windows 7.

Android Eclair 2.1 coming to India by June End

By: – Aditya Kshirsagar

HTC Hero owners in India will get ROM upgrades by the end of June.

Sprint Hero owners in United States have already got their ROM upgrade but HTC Hero owners in India still lack the same. I decided to take up the issue with HTC and wrote to them asking them why are they treating Indian HTC Hero owners in such utter negligence?

I sent the message yesterday and surprisingly got a reply!

Surprising? Either HTC has a robust support or no-one really contacts them. 😀

We all know what the upgrade is going to do for our Hero and if you don’t the Sprint Hero got the following in the upgrade

  • Upgraded OS to Android 2.1 Éclair
  • Includes enhancements to Sense UI
  • Includes enhanced corporate email support
  • Includes a variety of minor bug fixes

But the Indian version of HTC Hero lacks a lot of functions available to the global Hero users. We can expect a lot more from the ROM upgrade in store for us. Hopefully we will get fair treatment and all the features that a normal Hero has. But seriously it’s high time we get our hands on a better ROM. More on the same soon.

Warning: – if you are upgrading your ROM with the use of Goldcard or one-click system then doing so warranty stands void. So, do it at your own risk.
